Founded in 1969 by Lloyd Hansen, Ultra Tool is located in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, a suburb of Milwaukee. The company developed an early reputation for exceptional tooling, top-notch equipment and a serious commitment to new technology. This resulted in a long and productive business relationship with the Harley Davidson Motor Company beginning in 1972.
Highlights over the past 40 years include our embrace of laser machining technology in 1986, the move to our current 41,000 square foot facility in 1998, a research and development effort to establish smart die technology in pursuit of zero-defects production in 2002, our expansion to a second large facility in 2005, and the opening of our Training Center for Advanced Learning, also in 2005.
Terry Hansen, Lloyd’s son, became president and owner of Ultra Tool and Manufacturing in 1988, and remains in that position to this day. Prior to assuming the role of president, Terry spent eight years in various positions throughout the company, including toolmaker, quality control and vice-president of manufacturing.
